The Problem
As a large event venue with a variety of event types and customer demographics, Victoria Warehouse has a number of challenges. Music events inherently come with the risk of antisocial behaviour and drug use, but the venue is also a large site on the edge of an urban development; with a large perimeter to secure.
These challenges mean that the venue has to adopt a dynamic approach to its security and a ‘one-size fits all’ approach to managing the integrity of the site’s security whilst providing protection for event attendees would not work.
The Solution
The client engaged Inquest Detection to conduct an initial assessment of the site and specific upcoming events. We consulted with key stakeholders including management, door supervisors and local authorities. We then came up with an action plan and bespoke detection strategy for this iconic Manchester venue.
As part of our strategy, we deployed highly visible detection dogs at key entry points as well as general security dogs to patrol the internal perimeter. We also deployed forward-mounted low-visibility teams in the queues to provide early warning to door supervisors and our visible teams of potential threats and contraband.
The Results
The client was impressed with the speed in which we were able to provide a comprehensive bespoke plan that complimented their existing security arrangements without disrupting customer traffic flow or business operation.
The client has seen a 10% drop in anti-social behaviour across all events and detection teams have yielded a 5% increase in confiscated contraband.
